How do you find the best coffee in a large hospital: follow the staff of course…
Today is a take-away review of The Green Shop Organic Café in the main foyer of the Royal North Shore Hospital.
The Green Shop Organic is in the main atrium of the New Royal North Shore Hospital.
Continuing with my love of Mocha’s, I ordered the medium take away (they don’t have dine in), and a Macadamia Chocolate brownie.
Organic coffee has a different taste, and is quite pleasant. Again, I ordered the extra shot, mainly because the coffee does have to compete with the chocolate. Overall, this gave the coffee a well-balanced taste without any one component overpowering the other, and all distinguishable. The milk was not over-heated, well aerated, and creamy. The need for the extra shot is a personal choice, for mocha lovers: this one I recommend.
The chocolate and macadamia brownie was firm, moist, fresh and did not crumble. There was a generous amount of Macadamia nuts, yet not overdone. I originally wrote in my note pad that I could eat two, and I did.
The store sells a variety of organic food, fresh sandwiches, and other lunch and snack foods, made each day on the premises. The barista was very friendly, engaging, and courteous, with an excellent technique. As mentioned earlier, this café is not eat in, however there are plenty of tables and chairs, armchairs, and a bench with seats just outside.
The total cost for two coffees and brownies was $19.20. On face value this may seem a little pricey, however the coffee and the brownies are made from organic produce with a hint of different flavours. Overall, excellent value.
